Learn to sail in the BVI

Sailing Guide: Chartering, Bareboat Charters, Crewed Charters, Day Sails & Small Boat Rentals, Stay & Sails, Sailing Schools, Online Course.
Learning to Sail while in the islands is a special treat. While novices can learn to sail, it is the sailor who already knows the basics of sailing that stands to benefit the most. In a surprisingly short period of time this sailor can learn to cruise the islands . Partly this is because the BVI is a protected inland sea, and is consequently less demanding than most all of the Caribbean, which requires ocean voyages. Also, by focusing on learning sailboat cruising itself, a distinct set of skills, in the actual BVI cruising grounds themselves, a sailor can quickly "open up" this world of incredible romantic adventure! This is especially attractive to the modern active couple as well as the individual sailor.

The B-V-I Sailing School has an online cruising course.

The Bitter End's famous Sailing School. Started in the early 80s by the personable Nick Trotter, who used to race sailboats professionally, the Bitter End Sailing School (494-2746) offers a modular, flexible program using methods and techniques modelled after the Royal Yachting Association and US Sailing programs.

A student learns to sail on Rhodes 19 and J24 (a fine small racing sloop) to cruise on a Freedom 30 in an incomparable location in the North Sound of Virgin Gorda.
